Discovery Proteomics Service

Discovery Proteomics Service

MtoZ Biolabs provides Discovery Proteomics Service to help researchers comprehensively profile protein expression and regulation across cells, tissues, and biofluids using high-resolution LC-MS/MS. Our discovery proteomics solutions support unbiased biomarker screening, disease mechanism studies, and target identification across biomedical, clinical, microbial, and plant research.

What Is Discovery Proteomics?

Discovery proteomics refers to large-scale, hypothesis-generating analysis of the proteome to identify as many proteins and peptides as possible in an unbiased manner. Unlike targeted proteomics, which focuses on a predefined panel of proteins, discovery approaches survey thousands of proteins in parallel to uncover unexpected changes, new pathways, and novel biomarkers.

Figure 1. Comparison Between Targeted Proteomics and Discovery Proteomics

By measuring global protein abundance, post-translational modifications, and pathway-level changes, discovery proteomics enables you to:

🔸Reveal disease-associated protein signatures and molecular mechanisms

🔸Identify candidate biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis, or treatment response

🔸Prioritize drug targets and pathways for therapeutic intervention

🔸Compare proteome states across conditions, time points, species, or treatments

Because proteins are the direct executors of cellular function, discovery proteomics provides a closer readout of biological activity than DNA or RNA alone. It is a powerful first step to move from broad biological questions to specific, testable targets that can later be validated with targeted or functional assays.

Discovery Proteomics Service at MtoZ Biolabs

MtoZ Biolabs provides Discovery Proteomics Service using label free and DIA based strategies combined with nanoflow LC, trapped ion mobility mass spectrometry, and nanoparticle based enrichment. This integrated platform enables deep, unbiased profiling of complex samples with high sensitivity, resolution, and quantitative robustness.

Our workflow covers end to end analysis, from sample preparation and protein extraction to enzymatic digestion, nanoflow separation, LC MS/MS acquisition, and dedicated bioinformatics. By enriching and retaining low abundance proteins in biofluids with tailored nanoparticle chemistries, we can flexibly scale proteome depth while maintaining quantitative accuracy. The platform supports comprehensive analysis of PTMs and proteoforms, characterization of exosomal and membrane associated proteins, and high confidence identification based on rich peptide fragmentation patterns.

Discovery proteomics solutions at MtoZ Biolabs are applicable to a wide range of biological matrices and species, including preclinical animal models and clinical samples. They are well suited for global protein expression profiling, pathway and network analysis, biomarker hypothesis generation, and early stage target discovery across diverse biomedical and translational research projects.

FAQ

Q1: What types of samples are suitable?

We accept a broad range of samples for Discovery Proteomics Service, including but not limited to:

  • Cultured cell pellets (adherent or suspension)

  • Fresh or frozen animal and human tissues

  • FFPE tissue curls or sections

  • Biofluids such as plasma, serum, CSF, urine, saliva and others

  • Microbial and plant samples

If you have special or limited material, you can contact us to confirm feasibility.

Q2: How should I prepare my samples?

1. Cells: Harvest, wash with PBS if possible, remove supernatant completely, and snap-freeze pellets.

2. Tissues: Rinse to remove excess blood when applicable, blot dry, snap-freeze small pieces, and store at −80°C.

3. Biofluids: Centrifuge to remove debris, aliquot supernatant, and freeze at −80°C.

4. FFPE: Thickness of 5-10 μm, size of 50 mm², with a minimum of 10 slices.

Transport samples on dry ice or ice packs to maintain stability during delivery and avoid freeze–thaw cycles.

Detailed requirements and recommendations can be found in the Sample Submission Guidelines for Proteomics.
